who we are

About Us

Imagine a place 8,177 miles from the
US where the elderly live together with
young orphans—in the same
community.

Decades apart in age but together living day to day in the rustic conditions, no bathing facilities, no hot water other than what was heated in pots, cooking done with coal, and no air conditioning in a climate wrought with high heat. With food and medicine allocations at about $30 a month per resident, the community had been barely
surviving.

It was almost unimaginable for the initial four volunteers and the core founders of Southeast Asia Healthcare Partners during that first trip in 2008 to Hanoi, Vietnam. But that one life-changing visit altered their perspective. It gave them a vision for improving lives and working within their system to make a difference.

What began with apprehension and disbelief turned to hope, contagious energy and an inspiring change in a world so different than ours. By forging strong yet delicate relationships with Vietnam government, SEAHP has been able to build trust within the country, make friends and allies to help enrich the lives at the SS3 in Hanoi. Over 25 trips and fourteen years later, SEAHPI in partnership with others, has made tremendous strides in enhancing the lives of the seniors and children living in this peaceful and humble community.

Our mission

To add value to the people we come in contact with throughout Southeast Asia, and build lasting partnerships with our friends overseas.

Our vision

Through partnerships with our friends and organizational leaders in Southeast Asia, we envision positive change and enhanced lives throughout the region. By working side by side with other like minded people living in Southeast Asia, we learn from each other and equip future leaders to be change agents for their country.

Likewise, we believe that by opening our hearts and minds to our friends, we will leave with empathy and knowledge that cannot be gained through books or lectures. When we return to the US we can be better transformation agents in our own country.

With each trip we build trust and break through cultural, racial, and language barriers that build trust and goodwill for us and future generations. And it is self sustaining, and multiplies geometrically. What better way to focus on our commonalities and lessen the trust issues that come from the unknown. People, helping people, a bond not easily broken.

That is a legacy that lives on long after we are gone.

Our story

Since that first trip in 2008, Southeast Asia Healthcare Partners, Inc., has continued to expand and forge new partnerships throughout the region. Working with organizations in Vietnam and later Cambodia, we have partnered with other like minded organizations and individuals to help people caught up in human trafficking, and drug addiction. One of our founders has partnered with the US Embassy in Vietnam to bring messages of hope and friendship.

In addition, our founding members have become certified Maxwell Leadership, coaches, speakers, and trainers. Using the resources that the Maxwell Leadership organization allows us access to, we have been able to provide leadership seminars and workshops as well as individual coaching.

As we move out of the recent COVID related travel restrictions, we hope to expand our friendships and partnerships as our story continues to grow.

What we Do

Our primary causes

Everything we do is designed to add value to everyone we work with. As individuals, we have limited ability to effect change. It takes a community of people with varying passions and skills to make a difference.

With that in mind, we facilitate and mobilize people from all walks of life who share our vision. By coordinating with professionals in the countries where we work, we can provide a wide array of training and education, based on what is actually needed by our friends overseas.

Our volunteers include doctors, nurses, therapists, engineers, business people, coaches, speakers, and trainers. We work with companies that want to transform the way they do business and focus more on their employees and customers. And there are the organizations that provide services to people who have fallen into drug addiction, pulled into human trafficking, left as orphans or just hit bad times. By matching the expertise of our volunteers with the needs of these organizations, we are able to provide the most effective vehicle to transformative change that will last.

How Donations Are Used

We are an all volunteer organization. Everyone who chooses to work through Southeast Asia Healthcare Partners, Inc. pays their own way. They can raise funds through our organization but they must be transparent that these funds will be used for their travel, lodging, and meals.

This practice ensures that all donations not specifically earmarked for volunteer travel are used to directly benefit the needs of people we serve. Our donors can be assured that their money is used to directly help those in need and not be used to pay for unnecessary staff or excess travel expense. It will be used to purchases equipment, medication, clothing, or other supplies that will be used in training or to treat the people who’s lives we work to enhance.

About Volunteers

While we accept volunteers from all walks of life and a variety of skill sets, we want to project professionalism in everything we do. With that in mind, we ask that our volunteers review our guidelines for expected behavior when representing Southeast Asia Healthcare Partners, Inc. We always want to respect our hosts and their culture.

If you would like to volunteer, email ask@seahpi.org and provide your contact phone number. We will be happy to discuss any questions you may have and provide you with additional information about opportunities to serve.
